Zenith Weekend for Sex or Not to Sex

Remember in my post Lost in Translation — Sexy Video when I was discussing the fact that Google and/or other search engines was/were suggesting my post Sex or Not to Sex — Wait — What???!!! to the person from Iran who was looking for a “Sexy Video?”

Well, for whatever reason, this past weekend, that particular blog post, Sex…What???!!!, has received a record number of hits and it’s over a year old! OVER A FREAKING YEAR OLD, PEOPLE! I wouldn’t say it’s gone viral or anything because it’s not a video; it’s been more like a random anomaly because I have no explanation for why it’s had a sudden resurgence in popularity after so many months of dormancy. Not only that, but people literally from all over the freaking globe are checking it out. With that said, no one’s leaving comments on the post, so I have no clue whether they are amused or not, but what the hell — at least they’re checking it out. Right? It’s been kind of like a flash mob for a single blog post this weekend. Weird, huh?

Don’t get me wrong — I’m grateful for the broad audience and the numbers — but I’m also hoping that whoever is checking this post out isn’t disappointed to find that there’s no sex in it. It’s about trying to talk a writer friend into sex. Wait, that came out wrong. It’s about trying to talk a friend into writing about sex —to be clear, in a very PG sort of way!

Which reminds me, for those of you who are curious about how my friend’s fantasy novel is coming along, she is still working on it AND she finally broke down and had two of her main characters

DOING IT —

ALL DAY LONG!!!!

again, in a very PG sort of way.

Voila! Progress! We take what we can get!

Of course when her novel gets published, I will give everyone the heads up on my blog! I’m so excited for her! She’s working very hard on this novel and having much too much fun writing it!

Anyway, other than the fact that the post in question actually has the word “sex” as part of its title, I haven’t a clue why it’s having a zenith weekend. I’m sure there are a lot of videos, stories, blog posts, articles, etc. that have “sex” in the title, so that doesn’t seem to have any real significance in this phenomenon. At least not to me. So, if there are any bloggers, social media people or others who happen to know the ins and outs of how this all works and you have a layman’s explanation (reasonable or otherwise) for why there’s been this resurgence in my one blog post, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below! (By the way, just so you know, if you start talking in technical terms about this, my eyes will glaze over and I won’t be able to understand a word you’ve written!)

And just because and by the way, since we’re on the topic of “sex”-ish matters  at hand — for those who enjoy a little more spice in what you read, might I suggest the blog of Tara Caribou at Caribou Crossings, who you can find if you click on her name. (Tara, I hope you don’t mind if I give you a shout out!) She’s an amazing writer and I’ve been checking her blog out a bunch this weekend! Hope you enjoy her blog as much as I do!

On a more somber note, it was definitely a rough last week with the passing of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. On the site, Darkstarian Discourse, Ms. Darkstar shares an incredible essay on depression that is well worth reading entitled, “Not My Words … But They are Important Words.”

It is my own prayer that Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain find solace and some comfort in the arms of an angel! (God Bless You, Sarah McLachlan, for writing that song!)

Lastly, I’m sending love and peace out to my Wayward Friends near and far at the start of this new week! Please take care of yourselves and each other!

Sparkle y’all,

Mona
